L-Serine is a D-amino acid synthesis reagent. L-Serine is also the precursor of glycine by serine hydroxymethyltransferase. It is used in the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines as antibacterial agents. In vitro, it is used to study the structure and functions of enzymes and other biological molecules.
