L-Norvaline is a hydrophobic amino acid and is an isomer of valine. It is used in method for reducing misincorporation of non-canonical branched-chain Amino Acids into recombinant proteins. In in vitro investigations, it serves as a reagent, integral in biochemical experiments concerning enzymes, as a tool to study the effects of amino acid substitution on protein structure and function. Furthermore, it exerts inhibitory effects on the polymerase chain reaction by binding to DNA and RNA, effectively obstructing transcription processes.
