L-NMMA (citrate) is a relatively non-selective inhibitor of all NOS isoforms including NOS1, NOS2, and NOS3. L-NMMA is the archetypal NOS inhibitor to which other inhibitors are most often compared. The Ki values for NOS1 (nNOS) (rat), NOS3 (eNOS) (human), and NOS2 (iNOS) (mouse) are approximately 0.18, 0.4, and 6 muM, respectively. L-NMMA (citrate) refers to N^G-Monomethyl-L-arginine, which is abbreviated as L-NMMA. It is a citrate salt form of the amino acid derivative L-NMMA. L-NMMA is a competitive inhibitor of nitric oxide synthase (NOS), an enzyme responsible for the production of nitric oxide (NO) in the body.
