L-(–)-Norepinephrine-(+)-bitartrate is a bitartrate preparation of the AR (alpha,beta-adrenoceptor) agonist norepinephrine. This L-(–)-Norepinephrine-(+)-bitartrate preparation was used as a source of norepinephrine in a study of the aqueous outflow facility of cilliary muscle-disinserted monkey eyes, demonstrating that norepinephrine significantly increases outflow facility. L-(–)-Norepinephrine-(+)-bitartrate has also been used as a source of norepinephrine for inducing contraction of aortic rings in studies on the effects of compounds on heart muscle and vascular smooth muscle contractility.
