L-Cysteine-glutathione Disulfide (L-CySSG) is a ubiquitous glutathione (GSH) derivative present in mammalian cells. This compound is the oxidized form of free GSH and L-Cysteine, comprised of the GSH tripeptide linked via a disulfide bond to L-Cysteine. L-Cysteine-glutathione Disulfide may act to protect mice against acetaminophen-induced hepatotoxicity, however the D-cysteine adduct was shown to be totally ineffective in this regard.
