L-Ascorbic acid 2-phosphate sesquimagnesium salt is a stable phosphate ester of ascorbic acid, known as Vitamin C. This derivative is more stable than ascorbic acid itself and is hydrolyzed by phosphatases in cells to release active ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid is for several cellular processes including collagen synthesis, antioxidation, and immune function enhancement. In cell culture, this compound is used to promote osteoblast differentiation and enhance extracellular matrix deposition in various cell types. It aids in maintaining cell viability and proliferation under culture conditions and enhances the cellular uptake of ascorbic acid, leading to improved cell growth and survival. Additionally, it acts as an antioxidant, protecting cells from oxidative stress by neutralizing free radicals.

If this substance is dissolved in reverse osmosis water, how long would it remain active and stable at room temperature? If stable for longer than a few minutes, is there a recommended temperature range to maintain integrity?

Asked by: claudia1031
Thank you for your question. It is recommended to keep sc-228690 in a water solution at -20ºC in the dark for a maximum of 60 days. This info relates strictly for L-Ascorbic acid 2-phosphate sesquimagnesium salt hydrate dissolved in only water, we do not have this information specifically for reverse osmosis water. Rated 5 out of 5 by from LeeLee, CS. et al. (PubMed 23350662) found that adipose stem cell monolayers exposed to L-Ascorbic acid 2-phosphate (AA2P) exhibited increased secretion of chondrogenic factors (IGF-I, TGF- 2), and decreased angiogenic factor (VEGF-A) secretion, in addition to decreasing mRNA levels for factors associated with chondrocyte hypertrophy (FGF-18). -SCBT Publication Review
