L-Ascorbic Acid-13C6 is a labelled Ascorbic Acid. Physiological antioxidant. Coenzyme for a number of hydroxylation reactions required for collagen synthesis. Widely distributed in plants and animals. Inadequate intake results in deficiency syndromes such as scurvy. It is thought that the 13C isotopes in the molecule interact with the metabolic enzymes in the body, resulting in a slower rate of metabolism.
