KCNF1 Antibody (56-I) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects KCNF1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-KCNF1 antibody (56-I) is available as a non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. KCNF1, also known as Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily F member 1, is a multi-pass membrane protein that functions as an ion channel, typically forming a heterotetramer with other potassium channel proteins such as KCNG3, KV6.3, and KCNV2. KCNF1 is crucial for maintaining the electrical excitability of cells, particularly in the heart and brain, where KCNF1 regulates the flow of potassium ions across the cell membrane. Proper functioning of KCNF1 is essential for various physiological processes, including the regulation of apoptosis and proliferation in pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells. Notably, bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) can induce apoptosis and limit proliferation in normal human pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells, leading to an upregulation of KCNF1 expression in vitro. KCNF1 is predominantly expressed in tissues such as the heart, brain, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, and pancreas, highlighting KCNF1′s importance in diverse biological functions and potential implications in cardiovascular and neurological health.
