Karyopherin α1/6 Antibody (2D9) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects karyopherin alpha 1/6 protein of mouse, rat, human, hamster, bovine, and monkey origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Karyopherin α1/6 (2D9) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Karyopherin alpha 1/6 protein plays a crucial role in nuclear import of proteins, specifically those containing nuclear localization signals (NLSs). These signals are essential for selective transport of proteins into the nucleus, where proteins can perform vital functions such as gene expression regulation and DNA repair. Karyopherin α1 and karyopherin α6 serve as adaptors for karyopherin β1, facilitating recognition and docking of NLS-containing proteins at the nuclear pore complex (NPC). Karyopherin α1 and karyopherin α6 include one importin β-binding (IBB) domain and ten armadillo (ARM) repeats, which are critical for binding and transporting substrates effectively. Through ensuring proper protein localization, karyopherin α1 and karyopherin α6 maintain cellular function and respond to various signaling pathways.
