Kaempferitrin is a naturally occurring kaempferol glycoside which can be isolated from the leaves of various plants. Like many flavonols, it has antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities. For example, kaempferitrin inhibits LPS-induced nitric oxide production in mouse macrophages with an IC50 value of 40 μM. It also mimics insulin in stimulating glucose uptake in diabetic rats, but inhibits insulin-stimulated glucose uptake in 3T3-L1 cells.
