JC-10 is used to determine mitochondrial membrane potential. It is a cationic, lipophilicy dye often used in flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy and microplate-based fluorescent assays. This dye changes color, from orange to green, as the membrane potential decreases. JC-10 is considered to be a superior analog of JC-1 iodide(sc-364116) due to it′s improved solubility in aqueous media as well as it′s ability to detect subtler changes in the mitochondrial membrane potential loss.
