Ivermectin monosaccharide is a semi-synthetic potent inhibitor of nematode larval development that is devoid of paralytic activity. A part of the Avermectin family of 16-membered macrocyclic lactones derived from the actinomycete Streptomyces avermectinius which exhibit extraordinary anthelmintic activity. Exhibits potent inhibitory effects against nematode larval development, but does not exhibit paralytic activity. The monosaccharide form is used as a sensitive probe for the detection of select types of ivermectin resistance.
