Ionomycin calcium salt (1 mM solution in DMSO) is a selective calcium ionophore that mobilizes calcium stores within the cell. It is used to raise the level of calcium within a cell. In addition, Ionomycin calcium salt (1 mM solution in DMSO) can be used in the study of calcium membrane penetration, and cytokine stimulation intracellularly. Ionomycin calcium salt (1 mM solution in DMSO) is an ionophore that may act to be more effective than A23187 as a mobile ion carrier for Ca2+. It is non-fluorescent and induces apoptotic degeneration of embryonic cortical neurons.
