Indole-3-propionamide is a heterocyclic amide studied for its ability to act as an agonist of the transient receptor potential (TRP) ion channels. These channels are involved in a variety of physiological processes, including pain sensation and temperature regulation. Indole-3-propionamide also acts as an inhibitor of histone deacetylase and monoamine oxidase, which are involved in the regulation of gene expression and the metabolism of neurotransmitters, respectively.
