QUICK LINKS

Indole-3-acetic acid sodium salt is a plant growth regulator and provides a useful standard for analysis of these growth pathways. It induces cell division and cell elongation that promotes plant growth. Indole-3-Acetic acid, also known as Heteroauxin, belongs to the auxin class of naturally occurring plant hormones. It exhibits growth inhibiting effects at high concentrations, including epinasty. Highly concentrated Indole-3-Acetic acid can also prevent "shoot and root" growth, the effects of which formed the basis for which synthetic auxins were developed as herbicides.
