IL-31 Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgA kappa light chain antibody that detects IL-31 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-IL-31 antibody (E-2) is available as the non-conjugated form. IL-31 is a crucial T cell cytokine predominantly produced by T helper type 2 cells, playing a significant role in immune responses and inflammation. IL-31 signals through a heterodimeric receptor composed of IL-31 receptor (IL-31R) and oncostatin M receptor (OSM), which activates various signaling pathways, including JAK1, JAK2, Stat1, Stat3, and Stat5, as well as PI3 kinase/AKT cascade. Notably, IL-31 interaction with its receptor complex also recruits SHP-2 and Shc adapter molecules, leading to enhanced activation of MAP kinase pathway. IL-31 importance is underscored by its association with pruritus and skin dermatitis, particularly in conditions resembling human atopic dermatitis (AD). Studies have shown that IL-31R expression is significantly elevated on epidermal keratinocytes in AD patients compared to healthy individuals, and infiltrating immune cells in AD skin express IL-31 mRNA at higher levels. This suggests that IL-31 may contribute to the sensation of itch and promote scratching behavior in models of atopic dermatitis, highlighting IL-31′s potential as a novel target for antipruritic drug development.
