IgA2 Antibody (14AS) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects IgA2 protein of human origin by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-IgA2 antibody (14AS) is available as the non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody, specifically designed to provide reliable detection of IgA2 protein, which plays a crucial role in mucosal immunity. IgA2 protein is predominantly found in mucosal secretions, such as colostrum, maternal milk, tears, and saliva, where IgA2 serves as a first line of defense against pathogens. IgA2 in these secretions is vital for protecting mucosal surfaces from infections, as IgA2 can neutralize viruses and bacteria, thereby preventing their entry into the body. IgA2 is produced by B cells located in the mucosae, and IgA2 structure includes both heavy and light chains linked by noncovalent bonds, with carbohydrate attachment sites primarily located in the constant regions. These structural features enhance stability and facilitate interaction with antigens, making IgA2 an essential component of the immune response. Research has shown that mesangial deposits of IgA2 may activate the lectin pathway in patients with IgA glomerulonephritis, highlighting IgA2′s significance in both health and disease.
