IDI1 Antibody (XY-7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the IDI1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-IDI1 antibody (XY-7) is available as a non-conjugated format. IDI1, or isopentenyl-diphosphate delta isomerase 1, is a 227 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in cholesterol biosynthesis, specifically by catalyzing the conversion of isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP) to dimethylallyl diphosphate (DMAPP) within the peroxisome. This enzymatic reaction is vital as DMAPP serves as a key substrate for the synthesis of farnesyl diphosphate, which is a precursor for cholesterol and other essential biomolecules. Proper functioning of IDI1 is critical, as defects in the gene encoding this protein can lead to peroxisomal deficiency diseases, including Zellweger syndrome, a serious congenital disorder characterized by a reduction in peroxisomes. Patients with Zellweger syndrome often present with severe symptoms such as hypotonia, hepatomegaly, developmental delays, and in some cases, a significantly reduced lifespan.
