ICA69 Antibody (A-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgM kappa antibody that detects ICA69 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-ICA69 antibody (A-1) is available as the non-conjugated form. ICA69, also known as islet cell autoantigen 1, plays a crucial role in the immune response related to diabetes, serving as an environmental trigger that can induce autoimmunity against insulin-producing pancreatic islet cells. ICA69 is primarily located in pancreatic islets, which are clusters of endocrine cells responsible for insulin and glucagon secretion, hormones that regulate blood sugar levels. ICA69′s presence in these cells is significant because interaction with autoreactive T cells can lead to insulin-producing cell destruction, contributing to type 1 diabetes development. Human ICA1 gene, which encodes ICA69, is located on chromosome 7p22 and produces multiple transcript variants, with T cell epitope found in exon 2 being particularly relevant for autoimmune responses in diabetic children. ICA69 transcripts are abundantly expressed in pancreas, brain, and heart, while lower levels are detected in lung, liver, thyroid, and kidney, highlighting diverse biological roles and potential implications in various tissues.
