Hydrogen ionophore IV is a type of fatty acid and neutral hydrogen ionophore. It is a derivative of isonicotinic acid, a type of organic acid. Hydrogen ionophore IV is in organic synthesis, as a surfactant, and as a lubricant. It is in studies of the structure and function of proteins and as a surfactant in the production of nanomaterials. Hydrogen ionophore IV has also been used as a model compound for studying the properties of fatty acids and their interactions with proteins. It has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
