QUICK LINKS

Hydrocortisone 17-valerate is a corticosteroid that functions as a potent anti-inflammatory agent. It exerts its mechanism of action by binding to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors, leading to the activation of anti-inflammatory genes and the suppression of pro-inflammatory genes. Hydrocortisone 17-Valerate also inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators, such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes, by suppressing the activity of phospholipase A2 and the expression of cyclooxygenase-2. Hydrocortisone 17-valerate may reduce the migration of inflammatory cells to the site of inflammation and to inhibit the release of cytokines involved in the inflammatory response. Hydrocortisone 17-valerate plays a role in modulating the inflammatory process at the molecular level, making it useful for investigating the mechanisms of inflammation and potential targets for intervention.
