SEE ALSO...

HSV-1 UL42 Antibody (13C9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the HSV-1 UL42 protein of HSV-1 origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). HSV-1 UL42 Antibody (13C9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The herpes simplex virus (HSV), commonly known for causing cold sores, is a highly contagious virus that can establish latent infections in the host, leading to potential reactivation and disease. UL42 plays a critical role in the viral life cycle as a processivity factor for the HSV-1 DNA polymerase, which is essential for viral DNA replication. UL42 enhances the stability of the DNA polymerase on the primer-template DNA, thereby increasing the efficiency of viral genome replication. UL42′s ability to facilitate the loading of UL9 onto DNA is crucial, as UL42 forms a functional complex that unwinds duplex DNA, a necessary step for replication. Understanding UL42′s function is vital for developing antiviral strategies, as targeting UL42 could disrupt the replication process of the virus, offering potential therapeutic avenues for managing HSV infections.
