HSV-1/2 gB Antibody (H1359) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects glycoprotein B (gB) of HSV-1 and HSV-2 by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-HSV-1/2 gB antibody (H1359) is essential for studying the role of gB in the viral life cycle, as glycoprotein B is a critical component of the herpes simplex virus envelope that facilitates membrane fusion, a key step in viral entry into host cells. The gB protein exists as a homodimer, which is crucial for its function, and is linked by disulfide bonds, ensuring stability and proper interaction with other viral glycoproteins during the fusion process. The extracellular domain of HSV-1 gB spans amino acids 31 to 730, while the cytoplasmic domain extends from amino acids 796 to 904, and similar structural features are observed in HSV-2 gB. Understanding the structure of gB is vital, as gB not only plays a role in viral entry but also serves as a target for therapeutic interventions and vaccine development. HSV-1/2 gB (H1359) monoclonal antibody is an invaluable tool for researchers investigating the mechanisms of herpes simplex virus infection and the development of antiviral strategies.
