Homocitrate Synthase Antibody (31F5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Homocitrate Synthase of Saccharomyces cerevisiae origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Homocitrate Synthase antibody (31F5) is available as the non-conjugated format. Homocitrate Synthase, also known as acetyl-coenzyme A:2-ketoglutarate C-transferase, plays a crucial role as the first enzyme in the lysine biosynthetic pathway, which is a feedback loop regulated by L-lysine and is essential for the growth and metabolism of fungi and certain bacteria. This enzyme catalyzes the condensation of acetyl-CoA and α-ketoglutarate to produce Homocitrate and CoA, a reaction vital for the synthesis of lysine, an amino acid necessary for protein production and cellular function. Notably, Homocitrate Synthase is a metalloenzyme requiring zinc for activity, which facilitates the binding of α-ketoglutarate to the active site, thereby enhancing catalytic efficiency. Homocitrate Synthase is expressed in various cellular compartments, including the nucleus, cytoplasm, and mitochondria of Penicillium chrysogenum, indicating possible additional regulatory roles beyond enzymatic function. This multifaceted localization underscores Homocitrate Synthase′s importance in cellular metabolism and regulation, making Homocitrate Synthase a significant target for research in metabolic pathways and enzyme regulation.
