Hippocalcin Antibody (G-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects hippocalcin of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-hippocalcin antibody (G-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Hippocalcin is a neuron-specific calcium-binding protein predominantly located in the plasma membrane of brain and retinal tissues, with particularly high expression in hippocampal pyramidal cells. This localization enables hippocalcin to effectively participate in calcium-dependent signaling pathways, which are essential for regulating neuronal functions. Through plasma membrane binding, hippocalcin interacts with calcium ions, facilitating inhibition of rhodopsin kinase and enhancement of phospholipase D2 expression. Hippocalcin′s ability to modulate these signaling pathways is vital for maintaining neural plasticity and supporting associative memory, particularly in contributing to neuronal survival during aging. Loss of hippocalcin expression has been implicated in age-related declines in post-synaptic functions, highlighting hippocalcin′s importance in preserving cognitive health.

Are there any issues with using sc-393125: hippocalcin (G-8) mouse monoclonal primary antibody on mouse samples?

Asked by: AbPolly
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent,we recommend using a directly conjugated primary antibody. Please contact our special orders department for pricing and availability of sc-393125 conjugates.
