SEE ALSO...

HIG2 Antibody (G-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody that detects HIG2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-HIG2 antibody (G-2) is available as the non-conjugated form. HIG2, also known as hypoxia-inducible gene 2 protein or C7orf68, plays a crucial role in cellular responses to hypoxia, particularly in cancer. HIG2 is a 63 amino acid single-pass membrane protein that is upregulated in response to low oxygen levels and glucose deprivation, helping cells adapt to adverse conditions. HIG2 expression is elevated in cervical cancer cells, while suppressed in renal cell carcinoma, indicating potential as a biomarker for tumor progression. HIG2 interacts with the extracellular domain of frizzled-10, enhancing oncogenic Wnt signaling and promoting its own transcription, suggesting action as an autocrine growth factor. HIG2 is encoded on human chromosome 7, a region associated with various genetic disorders, highlighting the importance of understanding function and regulation in both normal physiology and disease states. HIG2 may serve as a promising target for molecular-targeting therapies and could be a valuable diagnostic marker for patients with renal carcinomas.
