Hepsin Antibody (2D5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Hepsin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Hepsin antibody (2D5) is available as a non-conjugated format. Hepsin, also known as TMPRSS1, is a type II transmembrane serine protease that plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, including normal cell growth, embryogenesis, and blood coagulation. Located predominantly at the plasma membrane of hepatocytes, Hepsin′s structure features a catalytic subunit that extends to the cell surface, while its N-terminus is oriented towards the cytosol. This unique positioning enables interaction with extracellular matrix components and other proteins, facilitating processes such as cell signaling and tissue remodeling. Notably, Hepsin is involved in converting zymogen Factor VII to Factor VIIa, a critical step in initiating the coagulation cascade that leads to thrombin formation, underscoring Hepsin′s importance in hemostasis and potential implications in tumor progression. Additionally, Hepsin expression is often upregulated in various tumors, indicating potential value as a biomarker for cancer and a target for therapeutic intervention.
