SEE ALSO...

Hep C NS5a Antibody (7D4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the Hep C NS5a protein of Hep C origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Hep C NS5a antibody (7D4) is available as the non-conjugated format. The Hepatitis C virus, a small, enveloped, single-stranded, positive-sense RNA virus belonging to the Flaviviridae family, primarily targets hepatocytes in the liver for replication. This localization is crucial as viral particles exploit the liver′s cellular machinery for replication, leading to the production of approximately one trillion viral particles daily in infected individuals. Hep C NS5a protein plays a significant role in the viral life cycle, particularly in the regulation of viral RNA replication and assembly. Notably, Hep C NS5a is a phosphoprotein, and phosphorylation state is vital for the efficiency of viral replication, influencing viral ability to persist and evade the host immune response. The high mutation rate of Hep C, attributed to the lack of proofreading by RNA polymerase, further complicates treatment and vaccine development, making the study of proteins like NS5a essential for understanding and combating Hepatitis C infections.
