Helicobacter pylori OMP Antibody (BDI176) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the outer membrane protein (OMP) of Helicobacter pylori in non-species reactive applications such as western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Helicobacter pylori OMP antibody (BDI176) is available as a non-conjugated format. Helicobacter pylori is a Gram-negative bacterium that colonizes the mucus lining of the stomach and duodenum, leading to conditions such as peptic ulcers, gastritis, and duodenitis. Approximately 66% of the global population is infected with this bacterium, although many remain asymptomatic. The unique spiral shape of Helicobacter pylori allows survival in the highly acidic environment of the stomach, where Helicobacter pylori can be found in various locations, including the mucus layer, attached to epithelial cells, or within vacuoles of epithelial cells. OMPs play a crucial role in the bacterium′s ability to adhere to host tissues, facilitating the binding to membrane-associated lipids and carbohydrates through the production of adhesins. This adhesion is vital for colonization and persistence in the gastric niche, triggering signal transduction events in host cells that can influence local immune responses. Additionally, Helicobacter pylori utilizes a hydrogenase enzyme to derive energy from molecular hydrogen produced by other intestinal bacteria, and secretes urease to convert urea into ammonia and bicarbonate, effectively neutralizing stomach acidity. The multifaceted roles of OMPs underscore their importance in the pathogenesis of infections caused by Helicobacter pylori, making Helicobacter pylori OMP antibody (BDI176) an essential tool for researchers studying bacterial biology and associated diseases.
