HCAM Antibody (NKI-P2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects HCAM in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). HCAM, also known as CD44 and by several other designations such as LHR, MDU2, and Pgp1, is a 742 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and migration, which are vital processes in embryogenesis, immune response, and tumor metastasis. This protein functions primarily as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and interacts with ligands like osteopontin (OPN), facilitating both cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. HCAM′s structure features a Link domain and multiple isoforms generated through alternative splicing, including CD44R, CDw44, CD44S, CD44H, and CD44E. The CD44H isoform shows high expression in cancer tissues, indicating potential involvement in tumor progression and making HCAM a critical target for cancer research. Anti-HCAM antibody (NKI-P2) versatility in various applications allows researchers to explore HCAM′s role in different biological contexts, enhancing understanding of function in health and disease.
