SEE ALSO...

HCAM Antibody (156-3C11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects HCAM in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. HCAM, also known as CD44, is a 742 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that plays a crucial role in cell adhesion and migration, which are vital processes in embryogenesis, immune response, and tumor metastasis. HCAM functions as a receptor for hyaluronic acid (HA) and interacts with ligands such as osteopontin (OPN), facilitating both cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. The significance of HCAM′s structure lies in its Link domain and the presence of multiple isoforms generated through alternative splicing, including CD44R, CDw44, CD44S, CD44H, and CD44E. The CD44H isoform is highly expressed in cancer tissues, indicating potential involvement in tumor progression and making HCAM a critical target for cancer research. Anti-HCAM antibody (156-3C11) provides valuable insights into the dynamics of cell adhesion and migration, serving as an essential tool for researchers studying hematopoiesis, lymphocyte activation, and the mechanisms underlying tumor metastasis.

Can HCAM (156-3C11): sc-59909 monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. Yes, HCAM (156-3C11): sc-59909 has been validated for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
