SEE ALSO...

Hep B xAg Antibody (X36C) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects the Hep B xAg protein of Hepatitis B origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Hep B xAg monoclonal antibody (X36C) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The Hepatitis B virus (HBV), a member of the Hepadnavirus family, is notorious for causing liver inflammation, jaundice, and in severe cases, death. Among the various proteins associated with HBV, Hep B xAg protein, also known as the X protein, plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of the virus. Hep B xAg protein interacts with several cellular proteins, including p53 and the retinoblastoma protein, which are pivotal in regulating cell cycle and apoptosis. By modulating these interactions, Hep B xAg protein can promote oncogenic processes, contributing to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. Expression of Hep B xAg is primarily localized in the liver, where Hep B xAg protein can influence the tumor microenvironment and facilitate metastasis through the upregulation of matrix metalloproteinases. This makes Hep B xAg protein not only a significant marker for HBV infection but also a potential target for therapeutic intervention in liver cancer associated with chronic Hepatitis B infection.

I am currently using this antibody for WB, and I would like to know which epitope of HBx protein is detected by this antibody? Thank you

Asked by: babo
Thank you for your inquiry. sc-57760 is raised against baculovirus expressed recombinant Hep B xAg. We have not tested it's epitope sequence. Please contact our Technical Service Department if you have any other questions.

Can HBV xAg (X36C): sc-57760 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, HBV xAg (X36C): sc-57760 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
