H+/K+ ATPase β Antibody (B-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects H+/K+ ATPase β in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). H+/K+ ATPase β, also known as ATP4B or ATP6B, is a crucial 291 amino acid single-pass type II membrane protein that serves as the β subunit of the H+/K+ ATPase heterodimer, working in concert with the α subunit to facilitate ATP hydrolysis while exchanging hydrogen and potassium ions across the plasma membrane. This process is vital for gastric acid secretion, which is essential for digestion and maintaining the acidic environment of the stomach. H+/K+ ATPase β location in the plasma membrane enables direct transport of ions, thereby influencing gastric pH and overall digestive health. H+/K+ ATPase β gene is located on human chromosome 13, a region containing over 400 genes, including critical tumor suppressor genes like BRCA2 and RB1, highlighting H+/K+ ATPase β significance not only in gastric physiology but also in broader biological contexts.
