QUICK LINKS

GW 3965 hydrochloride is a non-steroidal agonist of liver X receptor (LXR), which specifically induces hLXRα and hLXRβ. Cell-free ligand-sensing assays involving GW 3965 hydrochloride indicate that hLXRα is favored over hLXRβ. Alternate studies suggest that GW 3965 hydrochloride upregulates ABCA1 in low density lipoprotein-loaded macrophages. Since ABCA1 is a major regulator of cholesterol and phospholipid metabolism, GW 3965 hydrochloride is a useful tool to study these cellular functions. In addition, GW 3965 hydrochloride suppresses angiotensin II.
