GRP, also known as Gastrin-releasing peptide, porcine, a neuropeptide found in the central nervous system (CNS) of mammals, belongs to the bombesin family of peptides. Its involvement in a range of physiological processes, such as the regulation of feeding behavior, thermoregulation, and stress response, has been well-established. Notably, GRP exhibits interactions with various receptors in both the CNS and peripheral tissues, including the GRP receptor, neuromedin B receptor, and gastrin-releasing peptide receptor. These interactions initiate a cascade of events, triggering the activation of multiple signaling pathways. Among these pathways, the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K) pathway and the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway play significant roles. Such activation can have profound effects on cellular processes and contribute to the overall physiological response mediated by GRP.
