Granzyme B Inhibitor IV reversibly inhibits caspase-8 and granzyme B. Caspase-8 is one of the initiator caspases that trigger the activation of the apoptotic pathway. It is involved in transmitting signals from cell surface death receptors, such as the tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) family, to initiate a cascade of events that lead to cell death. By inhibiting caspase-8 activity, Granzyme B Inhibitor IV blocks apoptosis. Caspase-8 inhibitors are often used in laboratory research to study the molecular mechanisms of apoptosis and to investigate the role of caspase-8 in cell death regulation. Granzyme B is a serine protease enzyme found in cytotoxic T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, which are essential components of the immune system. Granzyme B plays a role in the immune response by inducing cell death in target cells, particularly during viral infections and cancer. Therefore, Granzyme B Inhibitor IV blocks cell-mediated cytotoxicity. Granzyme B inhibitors are used to study immune-mediated apoptosis in target cells.
