QUICK LINKS

Granisetron hydrochloride is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist that functions by competitively binding to the 5-HT3 receptor site on the post-synaptic neurons in the central and peripheral nervous systems. This binding inhibits the action of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that plays a role in the initiation of vomiting. By blocking the 5-HT3 receptors, granisetron hydrochloride effectively prevents the initiation of the vomiting reflex. Granisetron Hydrochloride′s mechanism of action involves the inhibition of serotonin binding to the 5-HT3 receptors, thereby reducing the likelihood of vomiting. Granisetron hydrochloride′s function in experimental applications involves its ability to target and block the 5-HT3 receptors, thereby preventing the initiation of the vomiting reflex at the molecular level.
