SEE ALSO...

GnT-IVA Antibody (M-71) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GnT-IVA protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GnT-IVA antibody (M-71) is available as non-conjugated format. GnT-IVA protein, also known as N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase IVA, GlcNAc-T IVa, or MGAT4A, is a type II single-pass membrane protein belonging to glycosyltransferase 54 family. GnT-IVA (M-71) antibody recognizes a protein primarily localized to Golgi apparatus membrane and expressed in various human tissues, including thymus, pancreas, prostate, small intestine, lymph nodes, spleen, and peripheral blood leukocytes. GnT-IVA protein plays a crucial role in glycosylation by catalyzing N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) transfer to mannose residues of N-linked glycans, essential for tri- and multi-antennary structure formation. This process is vital for proper protein folding, stability, and function, influencing cell differentiation and oncogenesis. GnT-IVA has been implicated in choriocarcinoma development and serves as a genetic marker for pancreatic cancer, with expression often down-regulated in cancerous tissues. GnT-IVA′s ability to modulate glycan structures highlights importance in cellular communication and disease progression, making GnT-IVA (M-71) monoclonal antibody valuable for research in cancer biology and glycosylation pathways.

Can sc-100785: GnT-IVA (M-71) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Professor Griffin
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-100785: GnT-IVA (M-71) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
