GMPPA Antibody (Y-2D78) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects GMPPA protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-GMPPA antibody (Y-2D78) is available as a non-conjugated format. GMPPA, or GDP-mannose pyrophosphorylase A, is a 420 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in the biosynthesis of nucleotide-sugars, which are essential for various cellular processes, including glycosylation and protein modification. GMPPA (Y-2D78) antibody recognizes an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of alpha-D-mannose 1-phosphate and GTP to GDP-mannose and diphosphate, a reaction vital for proper functioning of glycoproteins and glycolipids. The gene encoding GMPPA is located on human chromosome two, which houses over 1,400 genes and comprises nearly 8% of the human genome. GMPPA is expressed as two isoforms due to alternative splicing events, which may contribute to functional diversity and regulatory mechanisms within different tissues.
