GLYCTK Antibody (N6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects GLYCTK protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-GLYCTK antibody (N6) is available as the non-conjugated format. GLYCTK, also known as glycerate kinase, HBEBP4 (HBeAg-binding protein 4), LP5910, or HBEBP2, is a 523 amino acid protein that exists in seven isoforms, each with distinct expression patterns throughout the body. GLYCTK is primarily localized in the cytoplasm and mitochondrion, where GLYCTK plays a crucial role in cellular metabolism by catalyzing the ATP-dependent conversion of (R)-glycerate to 3-phospho-(R)-glycerate. This enzymatic activity is particularly important for the proper functioning of neural and skeletal muscle systems, as GLYCTK contributes to energy production and metabolic regulation. Defects in the gene encoding GLYCTK can lead to D-glyceric acidemia, a metabolic disorder characterized by the excretion of D-glyceric acid in urine, highlighting GLYCTK′s significance in maintaining metabolic homeostasis.
