QUICK LINKS

Glycerol monoacetate, also known as monoacetin, is a type of glycerol ester. It is an organic compound derived from glycerol, a simple polyol compound. Glycerol monoacetate serves as an emulsifier, humectant, and solvent. It can be used as a feedstock in the synthesis of other chemical compounds and as a plasticizer in the manufacture of certain plastics, improving their flexibility and durability. Its role as a solvent facilitates the processing and application of various materials, including inks and coatings, where it improves flow properties and drying times. It can be used to study the processes of acetylation and deacetylation, which are significant in various biochemical reactions and pathways.
