Glutathione, reduced is an endogenous tripeptide (gamma-glutamylcysteinylglycine) widely found in plants and animals. GSH is the predominant non-protein thiol found in animal tissues and in many physiological fluids. An antioxidant involved in amino acid transport and maintenance of protein sulfhydryl reduction status. GSH posseses several metabolic, regulatory, and protective functions. Glutathione, reduced is an inhibitor of Glyoxalase I.
