Glutaraldehyde solution, 50% w/w, may be used as a fixative for electron microscopy. In the laboratory, glutaraldehyde solution is commonly used as an amine-reactive homobifunctional crosslinker and as a disinfectant for medical equipment. Glutaraldehyde may effectively crosslink amine and hydrazine derivatives to proteins and other amine-containing polymers; biotin hydrazides have been directly coupled to nucleic acids with glutaraldehyde in a reaction that is potentially useful for conjugating fluorescent hydrazides and hydroxylamines to DNA.

Can you please share the determination of Assay method

Thank you for your question. Purity is a determination of Glutaraldehyde by weight. Please request a lot-specific Certificate of Analysis (CoA) on our website. Alternatively, please contact our Technical Service to request a copy of a recent CoA as a reference.

I got the glutaraldehyde last week but as I diluted it further in water it fell out and I have white flakes now I can't solve. Any recommendations? Thanks

Thank you for your question. This Glutaraldehyde solution, 50% w/w: sc-207716 is miscible with water, but to what extend has not been determined. Unfortunately, we do not have any suggestions for how to resolve white flakes in solution. It is also miscible in acetone, dichloromethane, ethylacetate, isopropanol, n-hexane and toluene. If you have concerns that the product has precipitated out of solution, please contact our Technical Service Department for support. Please call our European Support office toll-free at 00800 4573 8000, email [email protected], or contact us by live chat.
