Glucagon Antibody (K79bB10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Glucagon in mouse, rat, human, porcine, feline, and canine samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP). Anti-Glucagon antibody (K79bB10) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Glucagon plays a crucial role as a pancreatic hormone that counteracts insulin, promoting the conversion of glycogen to glucose and thereby elevating blood sugar levels, which is vital for maintaining energy homeostasis in the body. Additionally, Glucagon is part of a larger family of hormones that includes Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), Glucagon-like peptide-2 (GLP-2), vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP), and pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP). These related peptides have diverse functions, such as GLP-1′s role in regulating appetite and glucose metabolism, GLP-2′s stimulation of intestinal growth, VIP′s vasodilatory effects that lower blood pressure, and PACAP′s involvement in hormone synthesis in the hypothalamus. The interactions among these proteins highlight the complex regulatory mechanisms governing metabolic processes and underscore Glucagon′s importance in both physiological and pathological states.

Is this product corresponding to internal sequence amino acids 53-81 of Human Glucagon?

Asked by: cseunglim
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately this antibody has not been epitope mapped, so we do not have this information. The antibody was raised against polymerized porcine glucagon. If you have any further questions, please contact our Asia Technical Service team. I am using Glucagon (K79bB10): sc-57171 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: cjMara
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
