QUICK LINKS

[PYR1]-Apelin-13 is the pyro-glutamine form of the 13 amino acid polypeptide encoded by the apelin gene which yields a pre-proprotein that is processed to generate bioactive peptides consisting of 36, 17, or 13 amino acids (apelin-36, apelin-17, and apelin-13, respectively). This pyroglutamyl form of Apelin-13 has shown high activity with an EC50 = 0.30 nM. Apelin-13 (sc-351718) is an endogenous ligand of APLNR (APJ receptor), a G protein-coupled receptor (EC50 = 370 μM), that plays important roles in regulating fluid homeostasis, cardiovascular function, and insulin sensitivity. Research has also shown that Apelin-36 blocks the entry of human immunodeficiency virus into cells.
