Giantin Antibody (2388C3a) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Giantin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP). Anti-Giantin antibody (2388C3a) is available as a non-conjugated format and plays a crucial role in the structure and function of the Golgi apparatus. Giantin protein, also known as macrogolgin or Golgi complex-associated protein, is a single-pass type I membrane protein that forms a homodimer and is integral to the organization of the Golgi complex. Giantin (2388C3a) antibody targets a protein that projects significantly into the cytoplasm, facilitating interactions with other Golgi proteins such as GM130 and p115, which are essential for vesicle tethering and docking to the Golgi membrane. This interaction is vital for maintaining the integrity of the Golgi apparatus and ensuring proper protein trafficking within the cell. Giantin monoclonal antibody (2388C3a) recognizes an antigen involved in autoimmune conditions such as Sjögren′s syndrome and chronic rheumatoid arthritis, highlighting its importance not only in cellular function but also in disease pathology.

Could you answer the question about the epitope here? What is the range of amino acids used as antigen? Just rough range is fine.

Asked by: Not Maohan
Thank you for your question. The antibody was not epitope mapped . Here is the uniprot page for more information on the protein: https://www.uniprot.org/uniprotkb/Q14789/entry

I am using Giantin (2388C3a): sc-81279 antibody for immunoprecipitation, how much antibody should I use?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. We recommend using 1–10 µl (i.e., 0.2–2 µg) of antibody with 1 ml of cell lysate. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunoprecipitation protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoprecipitation-western-blots
