SEE ALSO...

GFAP Antibody (GF5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody designed to detect Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein (GFAP), an essential intermediate filament protein localized within the cytoskeleton of astroglial cells in the central nervous system. GFAP, also known as ALXDRD, is predominantly situated in the cytoplasm, where GFAP assembles into a dynamic network of intermediate filaments that extend from the perinuclear region throughout the cell and into the fine processes of astrocytes. This strategic localization allows GFAP to provide mechanical support, maintain cellular morphology, and facilitate interactions with other cytoskeletal elements, ensuring the structural integrity and resilience of astrocytes. By forming this extensive cytoplasmic network, GFAP regulates the blood-brain barrier, supports neuronal function, and enables astrocytes to respond effectively to cellular stress and injury. Raised against purified human brain GFAP, anti-GFAP antibody (GF5) demonstrates robust reactivity in mouse, rat, and human samples, making GFAP (GF5) antibody an invaluable tool for applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). By targeting GFAP, GFAP monoclonal antibody (GF5) enables researchers to accurately identify and study astrocyte behavior in various physiological and pathological conditions, including neurodegenerative diseases, traumatic brain injury, and inflammatory responses. The specificity and reliability of anti-GFAP antibody (GF5) make GFAP (GF5) monoclonal antibody an essential reagent for advancing our understanding of astrocyte biology and the intricate dynamics of the central nervous system.

I am using GFAP (GF5): sc-51908 for immunofluorescence, what dilution of this antibody should I use?

Asked by: DefinitelyNotMatt
Thank you for your question. We recommend a starting dilution of 1:50. However, optimal antibody concentration should be determined by titration. Please find our full immunofluorescence protocol here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
