Gentamicin C1 Pentaacetate Salt (GCPS) is an antibiotic complex consisting of closely related components Gentamicins C1, C2, C1a, and also Gentamicin A, which differs from the other members of the complex but is similar to Kanamycin C. It works by inhibiting the production of proteins in bacteria by binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, preventing the formation of peptide bonds between amino acids. It can also cause damage to bacterial DNA, leading to mutation and genetic instability. Gentamicin C1 Pentaacetate Salt is a potent antibiotic highly effective against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
