Gemcitabine Hydrochloride is a deoxycytidine analog with cytotoxic effects. It inhibits DNA synthesis and induces apoptosis through inhibition of ribonucleotide reductase (R1 and R2). Gemcitabine hydrochloride has been studied extensively in cell culture systems and may act to be effective in the inhibition of cell growth and proliferation.
