γ-Secretase Inhibitor III is a cell-permeable, reversible inhibitor of gamma-secretase that reduces the formation of both Abeta total (IC50 ~ 35 muM) and Abeta1-42 using Chinese hamster ovary cultures stably transfected with Amyloid Precursor Protein-751.γ-Secretase Inhibitor III inhibits calpain (IC50 = 3 muM). It has been reported to be nontoxic and specific for gamma-secretase.
